 CD Review "Stirred Not Shaken"
Artist: Mike Rickard
Review By: Len Rogers

     Atlanta has a new reason to celebrate, and be celebrated. That reason being... Mike Rickard. His debut CD, "Stirred Not Shaken" is a deeply sensitive, moving, and catching listen. Although "Stirred Not Shaken" is a generous offering of Mike's music with eleven tracks, I can honestly say MORE! Make no  mistake, this is not background music, Rickard's music grabs, maintains, and shares. Mike's dedication of the CD to his Grandmother Bobbie Martin, is just one way this talented artist shares his compassion and

passion with eager listeners.

     Jazz, folk, rock, country, all seem easily entwined in Mike Rickard's music. Difficult to categorize, rock/pop would be the probable closest. In any event it is all good and very memorable. Lyrical subjects range in depth and personal revelation. Mike succinctly welcomes you into his musical world, offering his thoughts and words in a most effective and beautiful way. This artist genuinely leaves you feeling something of himself has been shared. And that is a very good thing.

     Choosing a favorite from "Stirred Not Shaken" would be extremely difficult. However, it would be track number ten, "Who I Am". Great sound and Mike's strong and emotive vocal talents, bring a powerhouse of feelings to a musical stage. Reactions from listeners on Rainbow World Radio have provided ample descriptions to this amazing experience;
These comments are a sampling of some received in email after we played "Who I Am";
   "All I can say about Mike Rickard is WOW!" from Bob C. in Houston.
   "He could have been singing about me...." Beth Z. in Indianapolis.
   "Have not heard it said better, on the money!" Josh M. in Boston

      There are no weak moments, no bathroom breaks included on "Stirred Not Shaken" so grab and go before you hit play. Your immediate response like mine will probably be, replay. Songs like track four, "Forgot To Forget" are hard edged contenders for favorite. A strong song with universal poignancy which holds you in place and wraps you in Mike's message is truly one of those magical listening moments. Rickard's vocal talents are as centered on enveloping as they are on quality. Like a warm blanket on a cold rainy day he surrounds you with his song. And you enjoy! I feel we will be seeing and hearing a lot about Mike Rickard, and for good reason.
